NATURE OF SINEven God loves sinner like us, He hates sin. And sin can separate us from God.. The life of the believers can be sinned, if he or her life was not relationship with God. Although Jesus Christ conquered upon Satan the evil doer, we are living in the world of his. If temptation come upon our desire life , it gives birth to sin ( James 1; 15 ). What is Sin?. It is the big question for all believer and , when we understand the nature of sin, we can live far away from the sinful life at all. Sin means it is the thoughts or behavior which are contrary to the glory or character of God: to commit an offense against God’s laws. Believer’s life is the victorious, prosperous, successful life, if far away from the sinful nature because Jesus Christ paid for our sin on the cross by His precious blood with no spot without blemish. ( 1 ) Sin is disobeying God. ( Gen 3; 17 ) The painful experience was learned by Adam and Eve when they disobeyed holy God who hates sin, He must punish sinners. Disobedient is sin and it breaks our fellowship with God. But fortunately, when we disobey, God is willing to forgive us by confession and to restore our relationship with Him. ( 1 John 1: 9 ). ( 2 ) Sin may be unintentionally wrong doing. ( Lev 4: 1-2 ). Have you ever done unintentionally without realizing it until later ? Although it was unintentionally, it was still sin. God teach the Israelite to aware of their unintentionally sins, so that they would not repeat and forgiven for them . ( Lev 4: 1-2 ). The law of God help to become more aware of sin in our life. ( 3 ) Sin is a disease beyond human cure. ( Matt 8: 3 ). In the olden time, Leprosy was the incurable disease like AIDS today and contagious with isolated living. Because of communicable disease it was manifested as sinner. Jesus reached out and touched him, even though his skin was covered with the dread disease. Sin is also an incurable disease, and we all have it. Only Christ’s healing touch can miraculously take away our sins and restore us to real living. But as the leper, we must realize our inability to cure ourself and ask for Christ’s saving help. ( 4 ) Sin has an inward as well as an outward aspect. ( Mark 7: 20-30 ). Jesus mention that inward cleanness of the heart and mind is most important than the outward cleanness of the body, when the Jews believed they could clean before God because of what they refuse to eat. Jesus did not degrade the law, but He paved the way for the change made clear in Acts 10; 9-29 when God removed the cultural restrictions regarding food. We are not pure because of outward acts, we become pure on the inside as Christ renews our mind and transforms us into His image. ( 5 ) Sin is the universal separation of people from God. ( Romans 3: 9-10 ) Have you ever thought to yourself, Well, I’m not too bad. I’m pretty good person ? “ Are we Jews better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentile, are under the power of sin “ ( Romans 3: 9-10 ). Have you ever lied ? Have you ever hurt someone’s feelings by your words or tone of voice ? Are you bitter toward anyone ? Do you become angry with those who strongly disagree with you ? In thought, word and deed, you like everyone else in the world, stand before God. We must remember who we are in His sight, alienated sinners. ( 6 ) Sin is in our nature and must be faced by every person. The last time someone accused you of wrong doing, what was your reaction ? Denial, argument, and defensiveness ? The bible tells us the world stands silent and accountable before almighty God. No excuse or arguments are left. Have you reach the point with God, where you are ready to hang up, your defenses and await his decision ? If you have not, stop now and admit your sin to Him. “ Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered “ ( Romans 4: 7 ). Dr John Than |
